About the position

As a Contract Site Reliability Engineer at Nestle Purina, you will be stationed in St. Louis, MO, specifically at the Federal Reserve Bank Plaza. This role is crucial as it supports the U.S. Department of the Treasury in key business lines related to financial management for the federal government. You will report directly to a Manager and be part of a dedicated team that provides software engineering services to a forecasting system owned by the Department of Treasury's Bureau of the Fiscal Service. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in designing and enhancing existing infrastructure solutions, leveraging your experience to help set the direction for cloud technology. In this position, you will need to demonstrate strong logic and problem-solving skills to guide the creation and maintenance of reusable enterprise cloud technology solutions. You will be expected to write code, test, and execute or orchestrate pipelines into production based on customer specifications. As a subject matter expert (SME) for infrastructure and cloud operations, you will resolve or escalate issues as appropriate, ensuring that the infrastructure remains robust and efficient. Your role will also involve developing, leading, and optimizing the peer review process for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), maintaining it in a code repository, and building CI/CD pipelines focused on the application layer. You will collaborate with application development teams to design full-stack cloud technology solutions, aligning with the vision established by technology and product leaders. Additionally, you will take ownership of existing technology solutions, proactively collaborating with key stakeholders to increase efficiency and recommend improvements that enhance resiliency and automation. You will also be responsible for integrating an agile approach to software development, which will help build, test, deploy, and monitor applications with speed, quality, and control. Supporting and maintaining distributed storage technologies will also be part of your duties, ensuring that the infrastructure is not only functional but also optimized for performance.

Responsibilities

  • Write code, test, and execute or orchestrate pipelines into production based on customer specifications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for infrastructure and cloud operations to resolve or escalate as appropriate.
  • Develop, lead, and optimize the peer review process for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), maintain in a code repository, and build CI/CD pipelines focused on application layer.
  • Work with teams to understand existing infrastructure state and assist in achieving the next step forward.
  • Design full-stack cloud technology solutions in collaboration with application development teams, in alignment with vision established by technology and product leaders.
  • Take ownership of existing technology solutions, design and proactively collaborate with key stakeholders that increase efficiency, and recommend improvements that increase resiliency, automation, and reduce manual effort.
  • Lead the implementation of additional tools and processes that maintain an automation first approach to infrastructure and middleware management.
  • Help create roadmaps to sunset, replace, and decommission legacy implementations as new capabilities are introduced.
  • Integrate agile approach to software development that helps build, test, deploy, and monitor applications with speed, quality, and control.
  • Support and maintain distributed storage technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field of study, or commensurate experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in information systems with a combination of the following: Technical certification.
  • Experience building and scaling highly available cloud architectures, all while maintaining high-quality codebases.
  • Experience building infrastructure solutions in Amazon Web Services (AWS), including tools such as Kubernetes, Docker, Lambda, and serverless deployments.
  • Experience using system monitoring and automated self-healing.
  • Knowledge of Ansible, Terraform, Python, shell scripting, and other automation tools.
  • Full stack application development experience, including CI/CD pipeline development, automated builds, testing, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and DevSecOps methods of planning work.
  • Proficient in source control and leveraging a source code repository.
  • Proficient in containerization and management of Linux distributions.
  • Excellent writing and documentation skills.
  • Creative troubleshooting & problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
