About the position

As a member of the Product Reliability Engineering (PRE) Organization at Visa, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of Visa's applications and systems. This position involves a blend of operational duties and software development aimed at enhancing site reliability. You will engage in proactive maintenance, automation, and troubleshooting to support critical applications, while also participating in design reviews and implementing solutions to improve system performance.

Responsibilities

• Support critical applications and ensure their stability through proactive maintenance activities.
• Engage in automation activities and conduct root cause analysis for system issues.
• Write and maintain scripts to monitor system activity, including application smoke tests during production implementations.
• Develop and maintain automation tools for engineering and application support tasks.
• Participate in production issue troubleshooting bridge calls and provide immediate service restoration.
• Coordinate and execute application releases and production deployments.
• Be flexible to work in shifts, weekends, and extended hours as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or 3+ years of relevant work experience.
• 2 or more years of work experience in a related field.
• Hands-on experience with the Hadoop Ecosystem (Kafka, Spark, Scala, Hive) is a plus.
• Knowledge and experience in Core Java.
• Experience in object-oriented design and design patterns is a plus.
• Hands-on experience with DB2, MySQL, or equivalent databases.
• Ability to understand and write complex database queries.
• Ability to analyze thread dumps, heap dumps, and garbage collection related to JVM components.
• Experience in solving complex production problems and debugging code.
• Working knowledge of production support processes such as incident/change/problem management.
• Experience in Shell Scripting and Python.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in Web Application Development is a plus.
• Knowledge of the Payment Industry is a plus.
