About the position

The Technology Rotational Development Program (RDP) is a structured two-year training initiative designed to cultivate the skills and expertise of participants in a Site Reliability Engineer role. This program offers a unique opportunity to engage in various rotations, allowing individuals to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic DevOps environment. Participants will contribute to the build and operation of small-scale, fault-tolerant systems, ensuring high availability and reliability of services. Throughout the program, you will assist in the creation of innovative tools and scripts aimed at automating the remediation of incidents, thereby enhancing operational efficiency. You will also play a crucial role in measuring and monitoring system impairments and outages, collaborating closely with the cloud operations team to resolve any system issues that arise. This cross-training experience will provide exposure to various areas within the Technology organization and other key related functions, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the technology landscape. As a participant in the RDP, you will work alongside development and operations teams, contributing to the design and implementation of highly available and cost-effective systems. This role emphasizes the importance of both big-picture thinking and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that all systems operate smoothly and efficiently. The program is designed to not only enhance technical skills but also to develop leadership, teamwork, and communication abilities, preparing participants for future roles within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a DevOps environment contributing to the build and run of small scale and fault-tolerant systems.
  • Assist with the creation of new tools and scripts for auto-remediation of incidents.
  • Participate in measuring and monitoring system impairments and outages.
  • Assist the cloud operations team in resolving system issues.
  • Gain experience by cross-training in various areas within the Technology organization and other key related functions.
  • Work closely with development and operations teams assisting in building highly available and cost-effective systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Project Management, or equivalent field.
  • Completion of coursework by May 2025.
  • Detail-oriented and timeline driven with an emphasis on accuracy and results.
  • Ability to understand the big picture as well as pay attention to detail.
  • Proven creativity, problem solving and decision-making ability.
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork and service skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experienced working with and developing with Java
  • Exposure/knowledge of cloud technologies (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, or Azure)
  • Foundational knowledge/exposure to Agile/SDLC methodologies.
