About the position

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Booz Allen, you will play a crucial role in enhancing system resilience and efficiency, enabling the development of robust infrastructures for government and its affiliates. Your responsibilities will include building redundancy, implementing monitoring tools, and automating processes to reduce operational toil. This position offers an opportunity to leverage your expertise in monitoring and observability while mentoring junior engineers and expanding your technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain resilient infrastructure for government systems.
• Implement monitoring tools and automate processes to reduce operational toil.
• Script routine tasks and automate self-repair mechanisms.
• Assist junior engineers and share knowledge within the team.
• Work with AWS environments to provision, operate, and maintain large-scale production systems.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Developer, or DevOps Engineer.
• 4+ years of experience with AWS environments.
• 2+ years of experience monitoring applications or infrastructure using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or DataDog.
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Proficiency in programming or scripting languages like Bash, Python, or Go.
• Experience with CI/CD concepts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and SDLC.
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
• HS diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with monitoring distributed complex systems across regions.
• Knowledge of SRE practices including SLI, SLO, and Error Budget development.
• Experience with capacity planning and cost optimization.
• Familiarity with ITSM tooling integration like Service Now or Jira Service Desk.
• Experience with serverless computing and container orchestration technologies.
• AWS Certification such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate.
