About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) role at UKG is crucial for enhancing and supporting service delivery processes through innovative software solutions. SREs are responsible for automating tasks, improving system performance, and ensuring a flawless customer experience. This position requires a passion for learning and adapting to new technologies, with a focus on delivering reliable services in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in and improve the lifecycle of services from conception to EOL, including system design consulting and capacity planning.
  • Define and implement standards and best practices related to system architecture, service delivery, metrics, and automation of operational tasks.
  • Support services, product, and engineering teams by providing common tooling and frameworks to enhance availability and incident response.
  • Improve system performance, application delivery, and efficiency through automation, process refinement, postmortem reviews, and configuration analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering professionals to deliver reliable services.
  • Increase operational efficiency and quality of services by treating operational challenges as software engineering problems.
  • Actively participate in incident response, including on-call responsibilities.
  • Partner with stakeholders to influence and drive the best possible technical and business outcomes.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C++, or Java).
  • Knowledge of cloud-based applications and containerization technologies.
  • Demonstrated understanding of best practices in metric generation and collection, log aggregation pipelines, time-series databases, and distributed tracing.
  • Fundamentals in at least two of the following: Computer Science, Cloud Architecture, Security, or Network Design fundamentals.
  • Engineering degree, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working experience with industry standards like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Working experience with Grafana, DataDog, and/or Splunk.
  • GCP experience.
