About the position

The Site Reliability Engineer at Unity is responsible for ensuring the reliability and performance of complex hosting environments that support in-game voice communication for millions of players. This role involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and automating processes to prevent service disruptions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and managing server environments effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor, administer, and provide troubleshooting support for complex hosting environments.
  • Collaborate with Server and Platform Engineers, Software Developers, and Customer Operation Engineers.
  • Evaluate system performance and trends, adjusting capacity and making recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Perform sysadmin tasks managing hundreds to thousands of Centos-based servers.
  • Create new clusters of servers using automation tools like Puppet and Hiera-data.
  • Configure and diagnose application issues from disk/network to application level.
  • Work on-site in datacenters for network/vlan configuration and server deployment.
  • Advance and develop tools in support of DevOps and Site Reliability functions.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to maintain service level agreements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of sysadmin tasks and responsibilities.
  • Experience in project work related to Site Reliability functions.
  • Ability to respond to on-call incidents effectively.
  • Experience with automation to scale services.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team during the software development life cycle.
