About the position

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Cisco Spaces, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our services. This position requires a blend of software engineering and system administration skills to effectively bridge the gap between development and operations. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable systems while automating tasks to enhance efficiency and minimize errors. Your work will focus on maintaining the FedRAMP environment, adhering to compliance standards, and collaborating with various teams to deliver foundational services through GitOps.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and improve all aspects of the FedRAMP Cloud environment.
• Act as the point of contact for the Bangalore TechOps team.
• Utilize tools and integrations to deliver foundational services pivotal to Cisco's business functions through GitOps.
• Participate in on-call rotations for maximum coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering/computer science or above.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• 4+ years of experience with container orchestration tools such as AWS ECS and Kubernetes.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Git, Jenkins, GitLab, and monitoring tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, and PagerDuty.

Nice-to-haves

• Good working knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS and configuring load balancing, specifically AWS ELB and HAProxy.
• Deep understanding of Linux OS internals, including kernel modules, file systems, and network stack.
• Exposure to streaming solutions such as Kafka (AWS MSK).
• Experience with databases like GraphDB, Postgres, Cassandra, and InfluxDB.
• Deep understanding of public cloud environments, particularly AWS Cloud, and Cloud Security and Compliance.
• Hands-on experience with at least one programming/scripting language like Bash or Python.
