About the position

As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Cisco, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of our services. This position requires a blend of software engineering and system administration skills to effectively bridge the gap between development and operations. You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable systems, automating tasks, and ensuring compliance with FedRAMP standards.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of Cisco Spaces services.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable and fault-tolerant systems.
• Automate repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce human error.
• Operate, maintain, and improve all aspects of the FedRAMP Cloud environment.
• Act as the point of contact for the Bangalore TechOps team.
• Participate in on-call rotations for maximum coverage.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering/computer science or related field.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• 4+ years of experience with container orchestration tools such as AWS ECS and Kubernetes.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Git, Jenkins, and GitLab.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, Grafana, Prometheus, and PagerDuty.

Nice-to-haves

• Good working knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS and configuring load balancing (AWS ELB, HAProxy).
• Deep understanding of Linux OS internals (kernel modules, file systems, network stack).
• Exposure to streaming solutions like Kafka (AWS MSK).
• Experience with databases such as GraphDB, Postgres, Cassandra, and InfluxDB.
• Deep understanding of AWS Cloud and Cloud Security and Compliance.
• Proficiency in at least one programming/scripting language (Bash, Python).
