About the position
The Site Reliability Principal Engineer at City National Bank is responsible for ensuring the reliability, scalability, and maximum uptime of the bank's systems, whether in the Data Center or on Cloud Platforms. This role involves architecting solutions to improve software platform reliability, participating in incident management, and mentoring junior team members. The engineer will also design and manage service level indicators (SLIs), service level objectives (SLOs), and error budgets, while promoting SRE principles to enhance product velocity.
Responsibilities
- Architect solutions to improve reliability of CNB's software platforms.
- Participate in on-call support and manage the Incident Management process, including Blameless Post-mortems.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, runbooks, and procedures in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Design, build, and manage SLIs, SLOs, and Error budgets for critical services in production.
- Create educational documentation and blog about cloud platforms and observability use-cases.
- Coordinate hackathons and code reviews to improve design and architectural practices.
- Liaise with teams managing public cloud environments for setup, management, and troubleshooting.
- Coach and mentor junior team members to enhance productivity and professional development.
- Lead management, forecasting, and budgeting activities for resource availability.
- Provide feedback to leadership for improving quality practices with a focus on client experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.
- Minimum 12 years of experience in an Operational role, DevOps, SRE, or Software Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in development using Java, NodeJS, .NET Core, or Python.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Cloud Foundry, AWS, Azure).
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing applications with an active user base and managing production deployments.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with log analytical and management solutions such as Splunk or Elasticsearch.
- Experience with monitoring tools like Datadog, AppDynamics, or Dynatrace.
- Creativity and passion for leveraging technology to transform the industry.
- Good understanding of modern cloud-centric architectures and DevOps principles.
- Experience with operational aspects of software systems, including monitoring and alerting.
