About the position

The AWS Managed Operations (MO) organization is seeking highly motivated Systems Engineers to manage and improve the day-to-day operations of AWS software systems while engaging in long-term engineering projects. The role focuses on enhancing the reliability, performance, and efficiency of AWS Regions, contributing to the development and management of various AWS services, including Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, and Productivity Apps. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing operational responsibilities with engineering initiatives to reduce operational toil.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of AWS software systems.
• Engage in long-term engineering projects to reduce operational toil.
• Improve the availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of AWS Regions.
• Support the development and management of various AWS services.
• Collaborate with service teams to enhance product resilience and reliability.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant systems engineering or systems administration experience using Operating Systems, networking, and storage systems.
• 3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or Enterprise Production in Windows/Linux environments.
• 1+ years of experience operating in a 24/7 production environment.
• 1+ years of experience with a scripting language such as Perl, Python, Ruby, or PowerShell.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience with cloud computing technologies.
• 3+ years of networking experience.
• 2+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments.
• Experience with Agile engineering practices (Scrum, continuous delivery, etc).
