About the position

The AWS Managed Operations (MO) organization is seeking highly motivated Systems Engineers to manage and improve the day-to-day operations of AWS software systems while engaging in long-term engineering projects. The role focuses on enhancing the reliability, performance, and efficiency of AWS regions, contributing to the development and management of various AWS services. Candidates will be part of a team that values continuous learning and diverse experiences, aiming to reduce operational toil through automation and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of AWS software systems.
• Engage in long-term engineering projects to reduce operational toil.
• Improve availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of AWS regions.
• Support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS.
• Collaborate with service teams to enhance resilience and reliability of products.

Requirements

• 3+ years of Systems Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Enterprise Production experience in Linux or similar environments.
• 3+ years of experience operating in a 24/7 production environment.
• 3+ years of relevant systems engineering or systems administration experience using Linux, networking, and storage systems.

Nice-to-haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.
• 6+ years experience with cloud computing technologies.
• 3+ years of networking experience.
• 2+ years of experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments.
• Development of systems automation in a scripting language: Perl, Python, Ruby, or similar languages.
• Experience with Agile engineering practices (Scrum, continuous delivery, etc).
