About the position

The Site Selection Manager at Meta is responsible for developing and managing the site selection strategy for data center locations. This role involves negotiating complex real estate deals, collaborating with various internal teams, and ensuring that the site selection process aligns with Meta's operational and strategic goals. The position requires a blend of strategic thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to navigate challenges in leasing projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Meta's owned data center location strategy and manage the site selection effort for real estate.
  • Lead feasibility discussions and contract negotiations with service providers, property owners, economic development agencies, and utility companies.
  • Negotiate letters of intent, land or building purchases, economic development incentives, and other site-specific agreements.
  • Support power negotiations and partner with internal organizations including capacity planning, energy teams, and legal.
  • Prepare project location recommendations and present to management for approval.
  • Maintain strategic relationships with communities and service providers to support Meta's data center developments.
  • Develop Meta's leased and colocation data center location strategy and manage the site selection effort for commercial negotiations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Civil Engineering, City Planning or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in site selection and data center or other capital project development.
  • Experience leading real estate negotiations including contract formation and negotiations.
  • Experience representing business interests to governments and utilities.
  • Experience managing large real estate development projects and coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Experience communicating commercial, market and contractual details to all organizational levels.
  • 2+ years of experience in Excel and PowerPoint and/or Keynote.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced technical degree, law degree or MBA.
  • Experience in data center negotiations.
  • Experience in data center leasing.
