About the position

The Site Supervisor for Early Childhood Education at the University of California, Berkeley, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of early childhood education programs, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations, and providing developmentally appropriate care and education to children. This role involves managing staff, fostering parent relations, and maintaining a supportive environment for families while also engaging in professional development and collaboration with researchers.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises site staff daily to meet goals and objectives established by ECEP Central Administrators.
  • Communicates with staff in alignment with ECEP Central Administration and enforces policies.
  • Works closely with ECEP Central Administrators to hire, onboard, and train site staff.
  • Provides effective performance coaching and feedback, and conducts performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Oversees staff's completion and filings of ITERS/ECERs, and DRDPs per regulation.
  • Evaluates teaching teams and recommends staffing changes to achieve programmatic objectives.
  • Identifies staff development needs and supports staff in completing training objectives.
  • Provides guidance and supervision to up to three classrooms, ensuring quality early childhood education.
  • Ensures adequate staff coverage in accordance with state licensing requirements.
  • Communicates with families to schedule site tours and pre-enrollment meetings.
  • Develops effective relationships with families to assess and provide individual support.
  • Maintains compliance in recordkeeping according to various programs and licensing regulations.
  • Submits work orders to address facility safety & maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge of early childhood education processes and related policy compliance requirements.
  • Prior supervisory experience in an early childhood education setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, service orientation, and effective communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
  • Must have and maintain an applicable Child Development Permit (Site Supervisor or higher).
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Title V, Title 22, DRDP, CACFP, QRIS, CLASS, ASQ, ASQ-SE, NAEYC, and PITC.
  • Knowledge of DRDP applications (e.g. Learning Genie).
