About the position

The Site Supervisor I is responsible for overseeing the Extended Day before and after school programs at a public school site within the San Diego Unified School District. This role involves managing staff, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and implementing educational and recreational activities that cater to children aged 5 to 14. The Site Supervisor must adhere to regulatory guidelines and maintain effective communication with parents and school personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the Extended Day after school program until 6:00 p.m.
  • Adhere to guidelines set forth by regulatory agencies and funding sources.
  • Plan, coordinate, and implement age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
  • Engage in various indoor and outdoor activities including physical fitness and organized sports.
  • Supervise children and ensure their safety at all times.
  • Assist in the hiring of site staff and supervise program teachers and volunteers.
  • Maintain complete and current staff files and submit accurate staff evaluations.
  • Conduct monthly meetings with program staff and provide ongoing staff development.
  • Direct staff to use positive techniques to guide children's behavior.
  • Supervise the preparation and provision of daily snacks for children.
  • Maintain accurate enrollment and attendance records.
  • Produce monthly newsletters and calendars that meet program requirements.
  • Manage the site budget and maintain knowledge of Child Abuse Reporting responsibilities.
  • Attend meetings and trainings as required, some outside regular hours.
  • Conduct parent conferences and maintain recruitment through communication with parents and staff.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of training and experience in supervising educational and recreational programs for children ages 5 to 14.
  • Minimum of 12 college units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related fields.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Immunization Records (influenza, pertussis, and measles) within 30 days of employment.
  • Favorable pre-employment DOJ/FBI fingerprinting clearance and child abuse index processing required.
  • Favorable pre-employment TB test and health screening required.
  • Access to reliable transportation and a compliant driving record.
