About the position

Peraton is seeking Network Engineers to support the Special Operation Command Information Technology Enterprise Contract (SITEC) - 3. These positions are located at the SOCOM Headquarters at MacDill AFB, FL, and at various TSOC and Component locations both in the United States and abroad. The primary objective of the SITEC 3 Enterprise Operations and Maintenance (EOM) Task Order is to provide USSOCOM, its Component Commands, its Theater Special Operations Commands (TSOCs), and its deployed forces with comprehensive Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services. This includes maintaining Network Operations (NetOps), systems and network infrastructure, end-user support, configuration management, and conducting training, among other responsibilities. The role is critical to ensuring that the CIO/J6 organization and end-users can operate effectively around the globe 24/7/365. As a Network Engineer, you will perform Tier three network support under the guidance of the Sr. Network Engineer, requiring a detail-oriented approach and in-depth knowledge of networking hardware and software. Extensive experience in network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, Internet protocols, and TCP/IP is essential. The position involves testing and analyzing network facilities, including power, software, security features, and communications devices. You will be responsible for the overall integration of the enterprise network, planning, modeling, simulation, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the network. Monitoring and controlling network performance using various tools, diagnosing complex problems, and keeping technical skills updated are also key aspects of this role. Additionally, you will provide guidance and direction to junior network support technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Providing comprehensive systems and network engineering and architectural planning services.
  • Interfacing with O&M personnel by providing strategic design and support to projects as directed.
  • Comprehensively reviewing existing architectures on a regular basis, recommending and assisting with the design and implementation of systems and network improvements as required.
  • Establishing systems engineering with a focus on the end-to-end functionality of complex systems.
  • Establishing service integration, database structure management, active directory services/DNS, Thin/zero client and data storage with expertise in SANs technologies, NAS technologies, iSCSI, and DAS.
  • Establishing portal/web services with expertise in the design of medium to large enterprise farms, geographical replication, interfacing with external data sources and integration of third-party add-ons.
  • Monitoring PKI/certificate authority and providing CRM.
  • Performing disaster recovery and backup/restore.
  • Supporting efforts for cybersecurity technology, risks identification and risk mitigation strategies related to cybersecurity, and A&A support documentation in accordance with applicable DoD and IC directives.
  • Maintaining LAN, WAN and VoIP infrastructures, voice and data network systems, advanced engineering, and administration of multiprotocol routers, multilayer switches, network security devices and network management systems.
  • Establishing SATCOM with an emphasis on IP satellite and providing support with Wireless networking, Application delivery networking, Cloud computing, Mobile computing, End Point management, and desktop computing.
  • Providing Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) or other NSA Capabilities Package.
  • Engineering enterprise data, voice, and video networks and establishing and operating network test facilities.
  • Maintaining a secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks.
  • Working with vendors, the Government, carriers, and technical staff on network implementation, optimization, and ongoing management.
  • Providing high-level support and technical expertise in networking technology, including LAN/WAN hardware, switches, bridges, and routers.
  • Some positions may require shift work and/or an ability to work a non-standard work schedule to support the USSOCOM mission.

Requirements

  • 9 years of experience with a High School diploma; 5 years with a Bachelor's degree; 3 years with a Master's degree; 0 years with a Ph.D.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, a Mathematics-intensive discipline, or a similar field is preferred.
  • 4 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • DoDD 01-M IAT II certification and one of the following: CCNP Collaboration, CCNP Data Center, CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, CCNP Service Provider, CCDP, CCIoT, Aruba Certified Mobility Professional, or Juniper Networks Certified Specialist certifications are required.
  • DoD TS clearance or above is required.
