About the position
The Sitter/Companion (Non Nurse) at Heritage Health Care Center is responsible for providing social interaction and activities to enhance patient safety and well-being. This part-time role involves working closely with patients to ensure their comfort and support their needs in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Provide social interaction and activities for patients to promote safety and well-being.
- Relate information concerning a patient's condition to the appropriate personnel.
- Promptly answer call lights for authorized services.
- Maintain cleanliness and accessibility of patients' water pitchers.
- Remain with assigned patients at all times unless directed otherwise by nursing staff.
- Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients.
- Assist in the evacuation of patients when necessary.
- Demonstrate dependable and regular attendance.
- Communicate effectively and function productively within an interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
- One year of experience in post-acute care or a related setting preferred.
- Functional knowledge in the field of practice.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Knowledge of practices, procedures, laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in a post-acute care facility.
- Proficiency in competency areas including patient rights, safety, and sanitation.
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships with associates and vendors.
- Understanding and adherence to company policies, including harassment and compliance procedures.
- Integrity and professionalism in adherence to Life Care's Code of Conduct.
