About the position

The SIU Analyst at Argo Group plays a crucial support role within the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), assisting investigative teams in both basic and major investigations. This position focuses on ensuring data accuracy in claims systems, conducting audits, analyzing social media for claim consistency, and contributing to the development of case management tools. The role emphasizes effective communication, proactive data investigations, and fraud awareness training, all within a dynamic and inclusive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure data is updated in claims source systems to assist in SIU investigations.
  • Conduct ISO runs as directed by the SIU team.
  • Conduct audits as requested by the SVP, Claims Shared Services to ensure compliance with red flag identification.
  • Analyze Social Media results to determine whether a claimant's activity level or employment status is consistent with the claim.
  • Initiate proactive data investigations.
  • Effectively communicate with the SIU team on general observations and provide ongoing feedback on trends and developments.
  • Assist with the development and growth of our case management platform and data modeling tools.
  • Assist with fraud awareness training for the claims and underwriting staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required.
  • Two or more related designations or four additional years of related experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • A practical knowledge of SIU typically achieved through a minimum of two years' investigative experience in the private sector.
  • Good business acumen, understanding how an insurance company works and its profitability.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant matters.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build lasting relationships.
  • Exhibit natural and intellectual curiosity to explore and consider all options.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent evaluation and strategic skills required.
  • Strong claim negotiation skills.
  • Ability to take a proactive and pragmatic approach to negotiation.
  • Strong customer focus and effective time management skills.

  • Certified Insurance Fraud Investigator (CIFI)
  • Ability to quickly obtain a license within 1 year.
