About the position

The Bike and Ski Shop Mechanic at REI Co-op plays a crucial role in enhancing the outdoor experience for customers by providing expert knowledge, recommendations, and exceptional service. This position involves assembling and servicing bikes and snow sports equipment, ensuring that all work meets industry standards. The mechanic is also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment while engaging with customers both in the shop and on the sales floor.

Responsibilities

• Assess customer needs and aid in transactions.
• Engage in REI's Sales and Service Training and promote REI goods and services.
• Maintain equipment, ensuring a clean, secure, and safe work environment.
• Produce quality work that meets and exceeds industry standards.
• Report quality and safety issues to the shop managers.
• Follow REI loss prevention and safety procedures.
• Work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bike and snow sports equipment assembly experience (preferred).
• Demonstrates technical skills and proficiency.
• Completes required training/certifications.
• Ability to transfer 40 pounds.
