About the position
The Snow Groomer position at Wintergreen Resort involves performing grooming operations to maintain optimal snow conditions for guests. This role requires working primarily at night to ensure slopes are ready for daytime use, with a focus on safety and guest service.
Responsibilities
- Groom slopes to produce the best snow surface for guests.
- Maintain a positive attitude towards guest service.
- Respond quickly to requests from management.
- Understand and perform all safety aspects of equipment operation.
- Be aware of skiers and snowboarders on runs and traverses.
- Identify and avoid fixed obstacles such as hydrants and transformers.
- Use lights and warning equipment at all times.
- Ensure equipment is in safe working order prior to and during use.
Requirements
- Good physical condition to work 12+ hour shifts outside in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to lift over 80 pounds when necessary.
- Capable of walking on snow safely.
- Ability to operate a snowmobile safely.
- Effective communication skills using two-way radio.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Possess a valid, unrestricted Virginia driver's license.
