About the position

The Ski & Snowboard Instructor at Catamount Ski Resort is responsible for providing quality instruction to groups and individuals in a safe and enjoyable manner. The role emphasizes adherence to safety protocols and delivering exceptional guest service while teaching skiing and snowboarding skills to students of varying ages and abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct multiple levels of skiing/snowboarding to students with varying skill levels and ages.
  • Ensure students are matched to appropriate skill level groups and collaborate with supervisors for adjustments.
  • Provide a safe and fun learning environment through effective teaching methods and group management.
  • Assist in operational responsibilities of Ski & Ride programs, including registration and equipment fitting.
  • Attend required meetings and discuss lesson content with guests and their guardians when appropriate.
  • Make sound decisions based on weather conditions and terrain.
  • Maintain high levels of guest service skills and environmental awareness.
  • Assist guests with transportation of equipment and loading/unloading from uphill transportation.
  • Communicate instructions and help guests during lessons as needed.
  • Arrive on time and prepared for all assigned duties.
  • Work cooperatively with staff to ensure safety and a positive guest experience.
  • Supervise children in class and assist during lunch and snack times.
  • Adhere to Catamount's employment policies and maintain a pleasant demeanor with guests.
  • Attend minimum required training sessions throughout the winter season.
  • Possess and maintain contemporary ski/snowboard equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Intermediate or above skier/snowboarder, comfortable skiing on blue trails.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to effectively communicate with groups and individuals.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must be at least 14 years of age prior to the start of the season and pass a criminal background check (CORI).
  • Willingness to work long and irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
  • Previous ski/snowboard instruction experience preferred.
  • PSIA/AASI/USSA certification preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children and school groups preferred.
