About the position

The Ski & Snowboard Team Coach at Northstar California Resort is responsible for providing quality ski instruction and coaching to athletes of varying skill levels in a safe and enjoyable environment. This role emphasizes guest safety, effective communication, and the development of skiing skills while adhering to company guidelines and safety regulations. The position offers opportunities for professional growth and is part of a dynamic team dedicated to enhancing the skiing experience for guests.

Responsibilities

• Upholding the highest levels of guest and personal safety on varied terrain in high altitude and winter weather conditions.
• Clearly and accurately instructing assigned levels of skiing to students, both physically and verbally.
• Ensuring that athletes are matched to appropriate skier skill levels and collaborating with supervisors to make necessary adjustments.
• Assisting guests with loading and unloading the chairlift.
• Communicating instructions clearly and assisting athletes during training sessions and competitions.
• Supervising athletes during training and ensuring their return to identified guardians after sessions.
• Assisting in operational responsibilities of competition service and related programs, including registration and equipment fitting.
• Providing insightful advice and friendly support to guests as an ambassador for My Epic.

Requirements

• PSIA/AASI and/or USSA/FIS certification
• High School diploma or equivalent
• Attendance at Ski and Ride training sessions
• Basic knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and browser applications
• Fluency in English (spoken and written)
• Excellent guest service skills
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team
• Capability to work in inclement weather in a high alpine environment
• Physical ability to lift, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach frequently.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience with teaching/coaching/mentoring
• Experience coaching winter sports athletes of all ages
• Previous ski/snowboard coaching experience
• Knowledge of the local area/resort
