About the position

The Satellite Operations Specialist position at KBR is a SkillBridge opportunity designed for active duty U.S. military members. This role involves conducting real-time spacecraft and satellite flight operations, developing mission support plans, and providing technical direction for on-orbit missions. The specialist will work within KBR's National Security Solutions division, contributing to national security by ensuring the effective operation of satellite systems.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts real-time spacecraft/satellite flight operations during various mission phases.
  • Develops detailed plans and procedures for mission support and analysis.
  • Provides technical direction for on-orbit mission support and plans for vehicle malfunctions.
  • Performs failure analysis of orbiting satellites and their subsystems.
  • Utilizes system software for spacecraft control tasks and improvements.
  • Supports test and validation of software performance.
  • Performs flight length orbit adjustments and technical briefings.
  • Conducts operations for orbital space systems and ballistic missiles.
  • Establishes and maintains standardized operating procedures.
  • Coordinates with the Satellite Control Network and other government organizations.
  • Resolves conflicts related to tracking, commanding, and telemetry data acquisition.
  • Delivers mission data analysis to customers and supports operational transitions of satellites.
  • Creates and validates documentation products and implements anomaly response plans.
  • Conducts real-time evaluations of spacecraft and ground systems status.
  • Issues commands and directives to tracking stations within specified timelines.
  • Maintains daily activity logs and historical files of operational support.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in satellite systems operations.
  • Active DOD TS/SCI clearance with a CI Polygraph.
  • Ability to work shifts supporting 24/7 operations.
  • Successful completion of a thorough background investigation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • Certified operator of DOD and/or NRO programs.
  • Familiarity with AFSCN and 22 SOPS scheduling requirements.
  • Experience in operating multiple satellite families.
