About the position

The Special Operations Nurse Case Manager at KBR is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to Department of Defense beneficiaries. This role involves assessing patient needs, developing treatment plans, coordinating care, and ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines. The position requires a strong understanding of healthcare practices, financial stewardship, and effective communication with various stakeholders to enhance patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, record, and communicate data relevant to primary health assessments.
  • Assess patients via telephone using established protocols to provide appropriate care.
  • Establish priorities for patient care and monitor progress toward goals.
  • Oversee discharge-planning activities to ensure timely patient care.
  • Provide assistance to healthcare finders to identify patient needs for referrals.
  • Negotiate, write, finalize, and administer product/service agreements.
  • Utilize pre-established utilization review criteria to report quality and risk management issues.
  • Apply VA/DOD Clinical Practice Guidelines to ensure evidence-based care.
  • Manage healthcare financial aspects to ensure optimal resource stewardship.
  • Use research tools to evaluate practices and outcomes critically.
  • Manage information systems and technology for health management.
  • Design and present computer-generated outcome analysis for educational programs.
  • Understand pharmaceuticals and their effects on patient recovery.

Requirements

  • Active duty military status required to apply for this position.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must possess a Secret or Top Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Current RN license; full, active, and unrestricted in any U.S. state or territory.
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience required.
  • Certification as a case manager from a recognized organization is required or must be obtained within the first year of employment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of patient education principles and management of complex problems.
  • Ability to seek feedback to enhance clinical knowledge and performance.
  • Skills to consult and negotiate with healthcare providers for services.
  • Maintain clinical practice privileges and credentialing requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in military healthcare settings.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Advanced certifications in nursing or case management.
