About the position

The Skilled Construction Laborer (Operator) at The Driller LLC is responsible for operating specialized boring and tunneling equipment to construct underground pathways for utilities. This role emphasizes safety, quality service, and teamwork while working outdoors in various environments across Iowa and the Midwest. The position requires a strong background in construction, particularly in trenchless technology and heavy equipment operation, and involves physical labor and travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Report to assigned locations for mobilization and travel to job sites throughout Iowa and the Midwest.
  • Participate in safety briefings and prepare for daily tasks.
  • Load and unload trailers, set up materials, and fuel equipment.
  • Operate hand and power tools, trenchless machines, and heavy equipment.
  • Survey, install, and weld pipes as part of construction activities.
  • Interpret plans and specifications for job site setup and use surveying equipment to calculate grade and alignment.
  • Perform physical tasks including climbing ladders, walking, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, stooping, squatting, lifting, and climbing.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of construction experience in underground utility, heavy highway, bridges, dirt work, and/or welding.
  • Experience operating specialized trenchless equipment such as Tunnel Boring, Guided Boring, and/or Auger Boring systems.
  • Heavy equipment experience including loading/unloading materials and operating excavators, backhoes, skidsteers, bucket loaders, and/or forklifts.
  • Jobsite setup experience with the ability to interpret plans and specifications.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid driver's license (Class A CDL w/Tanker Endorsement preferred).
  • Experience with DOT physicals, drug tests, and background checks.
