The Skilled Trades Specialist is an integral member of our team at the Wyoming Women's Center in Lusk, WY. This position is responsible for various general trades and preventive maintenance functions throughout a prison facility and property. In addition, this position will be responsible for the repairs and upkeep of the facility in all trade areas and is under the supervision of the Skilled Trades Manager. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently, take initiative, have excellent time management and prioritization skills, and have familiarity with security cameras, electronics, and door-locking systems. The role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including electrical duties such as replacing light bulbs and ballast, repairing or replacing switches, controls, dialers, and other electrical components, troubleshooting and locating problems, maintaining and operating emergency generators, and recommending design parameters for new service. The Skilled Trades Specialist will also perform locksmith duties, from ordinary office door locks to sophisticated electronically operated high-security magnetic locks. In addition to electrical and locksmith duties, the Specialist will be responsible for the upkeep of all vehicles, tractors, utility vehicles, heavy equipment, diesel generators, and other mechanical systems. This includes installing, repairing, and maintaining heating systems, gas systems, refrigeration systems, boiler systems, and air handling units. The role also involves assisting with lawn care, landscaping, and snow removal, as well as managing water and sewer services for state facilities. The Specialist will review engineering plans and specifications related to various systems for compliance with federal and state regulations, conduct inspections, and participate in the construction and energy management planning process. They will also maintain records through the AIM maintenance management software and may work with and escort vendors and contractors to complete various tasks. The position requires the ability to work on-call on a rotating basis, including occasional night and weekend hours, while ensuring adherence to all WDOC policies and procedures.
