About the position

The Skin Pass 2 Operator is responsible for the operation of the Skin Pass 2 Mill, ensuring that all functions are performed according to work instructions to meet quality and productivity goals. This role involves checking coils, loading and centering them, operating the mill, inspecting for defects, and maintaining equipment. The operator must coordinate with crane operators and perform maintenance tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Check coil for proper identification and inspection corresponding to the program.
• Load and center coils on tension or payoff reel and feed coil through the mill.
• Insert work rolls into the mill and make periodic gauge references during rolling.
• Inspect both the top and bottom face of the strip for rolling defects at prescribed intervals and make necessary adjustments.
• Remove completed coil from tension reel, band, and identify as per work instructions.
• Utilize paper/plastic interleaving as per work instructions.
• Coordinate coil and roll movements with crane operators.
• Change rolls in the mill box as necessary.
• Grease the mill as indicated in work instructions.
• Perform daily checks as indicated in appropriate checklists.
• Mix batch rolling emulsion solution.
• Perform maintenance work as assigned.
• Maintain proper housekeeping throughout the entire work area.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent (GED).
