About the position

The Store Leader-Hourly at GameStop is responsible for independently influencing the performance of the store team and ensuring exceptional guest service experiences. This role involves overseeing sales initiatives, operational effectiveness, and marketing strategies while supervising a team that may include an Assistant Store Leader and Game Advisors. The Store Leader utilizes GameStop's sales models to drive guest loyalty and sales, while also managing day-to-day business processes and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide world-class guest service by greeting guests, addressing concerns, and aligning guest needs with GameStop products.
  • Drive sales and guest loyalty through Solution Selling techniques and ensure every guest is thanked for shopping at GameStop.
  • Recruit, hire, assess, develop, and retain team members committed to outstanding guest service.
  • Provide regular feedback and conduct performance coaching discussions with store associates.
  • Ensure the sales floor is supervised at all times and train associates on company policies and procedures.
  • Respond to operational requirements to create exceptional guest experiences in a clean and organized store.
  • Schedule store associates to optimize guest service levels and delegate tasks effectively.
  • Communicate regularly with store associates and leadership to implement store initiatives.
  • Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention practices.
  • Manage in-store merchandising and stock levels, communicating shortages and discrepancies to leadership.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age and present state-required proof of age documents.
  • High school diploma or GED required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • Three or more years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience required; at least 1 year of retail management experience preferred.
  • Ability to work alone and move throughout the store unassisted for extended periods (up to 12 hours per day).
  • Ability to lift and/or move objects and displays (up to 20 lbs.), bend, stoop, reach, and climb on ladders.
  • Occasional travel unassisted via car and/or plane to offsite conferences and meetings (less than 10%).

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
