About the position

The position at Blue Origin involves applying technical expertise and leadership skills to ensure compliance with security standards in the development of the Lunar Permanence business unit's Blue Moon lander product lines. The role is crucial for the safety and efficiency of human spaceflight, requiring collaboration with cyber security experts and other engineering disciplines to define processes and requirements for lunar missions. The candidate will be responsible for mentoring team members, guiding CI/CD best practices, and implementing risk mitigations while maintaining a focus on quality and project impact.

Responsibilities

  • Work with developers to inform and ensure compliance to all relevant security standards.
  • Train, guide, and mentor team members on CI/CD best practices from a security perspective.
  • Set direction and goals for the team regarding project impact, product quality, and engineering efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze data to understand and troubleshoot pipeline performance.
  • Assess risk and design and implement risk mitigations related to the project.
  • Deeply understand the safety-critical software development process and find ways to create and apply tooling to make the process more secure while maintaining efficiency.

Requirements

  • B.S. or higher degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, aerospace engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years professional experience minimum.
  • Experience developing and owning CI/CD pipelines that deliver high quality work to customers continuously.
  • Experience using configuration as code tools to manage cloud resource and physical workstations (e.g.: Ansible, Vagrant, Terraform, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Experience with Linux and containerization.
  • Experience with scripted and compiled languages such as Python, and C/C++.
  • Experience improving stability through monitoring, analysis, thoughtful code reviews, and detailed feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven understanding of source control tools and concepts such as git workflows, versioning, branching.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with AWS ecosystem.
  • Experience working toward CMMC certification.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining NIST 800-53 controls.
  • Experience with unit testing and test-driven development.
  • Experience hardening systems and containers.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Aerospace Industry experience with safety critical software and/or tools qualification activities.
  • Experience with NPR 7150.2D.
