About the position

The Safety Systems Engineer role at Blue Origin is focused on supporting the Electrical Power Systems (EPS) design and integration for future space vehicles. This position is crucial for developing sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo to the lunar surface, contributing to the company's mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. The engineer will work closely with NASA and other partners to ensure safe and reliable operations in space, directly impacting the future of human space exploration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Plans for Hardware Aspects of Certification (PHAC), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Hazard Sheets, and Architecture Safety Allocation.
  • Support in developing Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and developing mitigation plans for EPS at the subsystem and component levels.
  • Ensure traceability between subsystem and component functions, requirements, and safety artifacts.
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Systems Engineers to ensure commonality across safety products.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or equivalent relevant experience in a related field.
  • Technical expertise in safety systems engineering, particularly in power systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with NASA or in the aerospace industry.
  • Familiarity with ITAR regulations and compliance.
