About the position

The Fluids and Propulsion Engineering Operations Lead at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in managing the execution of projects related to space exploration. This position involves overseeing the entire product life cycle, from research and design to manufacturing and production, ensuring that products meet program needs while adhering to budgets and schedules. The role requires a commitment to safety and collaboration, as well as the ability to manage Agile processes and serve as a liaison between teams and program management offices. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the Lunar Transportation system, which aims to return humans to the Moon and establish a permanent human presence beyond Earth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage budgets, schedules, work breakdown structure, and program plans to ensure timely product delivery.
  • Lead the execution of Agile processes for weekly planning and tracking.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Fluids/Prop team and the Lunar Transportation program management office.
  • Present status, risks & opportunities, variances, and recovery plans to engineering and program management.
  • Oversee programmatic key performance metrics including cost, schedule, and risk management.
  • Collaborate with NASA and National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects/programs, including managing priorities, scope, schedule, integration, and cost.
  • Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management, and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodology and JIRA software.
  • Experience with P6 Primavera, MS Project, or similar scheduling software packages.
  • Corporate and subcontract financial experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while providing imaginative and detailed solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA degree or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience.
  • Proficient with MS Excel capabilities such as Macros, Power Query, and Power Pivot.
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Experience in leading complex highly integrated products.
  • Conversational in fluids and propulsion system technical details.
