About the position

The Fluids and Propulsion Engineering Operations Lead at Blue Origin is responsible for managing the execution of engineering projects related to fluids and propulsion systems. This role involves overseeing the entire product life cycle, from research and design to manufacturing and production, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. The position requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders, including NASA, to develop systems that support lunar transportation and human spaceflight. The lead will also implement Agile methodologies to enhance team efficiency and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manage budgets, schedules, work breakdown structures, and program plans to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Fluids/Prop team and the Lunar Transportation program management office.
  • Develop and maintain programmatic key performance metrics such as cost, schedule, and risk management.
  • Lead the execution of Agile processes for weekly planning and tracking.
  • Present status, risks, opportunities, variances, and recovery plans to engineering and program management.
  • Collaborate with NASA and National Team Partners on the Human Landing System (HLS) program.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects/programs, including managing priorities, scope, schedule, integration, and cost.
  • Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management, and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodology and JIRA software.
  • Experience with P6 Primavera, MS Project, or similar scheduling software packages.
  • Corporate and subcontract financial experience.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA degree or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience.
  • Proficient with MS Excel capabilities such as Macros, Power Query, and Power Pivot.
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Experience in leading complex highly integrated products.
  • Conversational in fluids and propulsion system technical details.
