About the position

The Fluids and Propulsion Engineering Operations Lead at Blue Origin plays a crucial role in managing the execution of engineering projects related to space exploration. This position involves overseeing the entire product life cycle, from research and design to manufacturing and production, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget. The role requires a commitment to safety and collaboration, as well as the ability to manage complex schedules and risks while working closely with various teams and stakeholders, including NASA and other partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage budgets, schedules, work breakdown structure, and program plans to ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Lead the execution of an Agile process for week-to-week planning and tracking.
  • Serve as a scrum master to drive efficiency in team execution.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the Fluids/Prop team and the Lunar Transportation program management office.
  • Develop and maintain programmatic key performance metrics (cost, schedule, risk).
  • Ensure alignment between the program level plan and day-to-day execution of the team.
  • Present status, risks & opportunities, variances, and recovery plans to engineering and program management.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Mathematics, or related disciplines.
  • 5+ years of experience managing projects/programs, including managing priorities, scope, schedule, integration, and cost.
  • Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management, and Cost Account Management such as EVM.
  • Experience with Agile project management methodology and JIRA software.
  • Experience with P6 Primavera, MS Project, or similar scheduling software packages.
  • Corporate and subcontract financial experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while providing imaginative and detailed solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Nice-to-haves

  • MBA degree or equivalent experience.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience.
  • Proficient with MS Excel capabilities such as Macros, Power Query, and Power Pivot.
  • Basic programming skills.
  • Experience in leading complex highly integrated products.
  • Conversational in fluids and propulsion system technical details.
