About the position

The position at Blue Origin involves contributing to the development of spacecraft thermal control systems as part of the Lunar Permanence business unit. The role requires collaboration with NASA and other partners to enhance the Lunar Transportation system, ensuring safe human spaceflight. The candidate will work in a dynamic environment, focusing on project management, engineering integration, and problem-solving to deliver thermal hardware components and systems.

Responsibilities

• Define and develop spacecraft thermal control systems.
• Collaborate with Lunar Thermal Hardware engineers to deliver thermal hardware components and systems.
• Support component design, subsystem integration activities, and testing coordination.
• Define project scope and schedule in early project phases to achieve program goals.
• Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, manage changes, and resolve unexpected problems during builds and testing activities.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for communication and organizational problem-solving.

Requirements

• Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical, aerospace, or similar engineering.
• 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
• Solid understanding of thermal and fluid fundamentals.
• Familiarity with pumped fluid loop hardware or passive thermal hardware.
• Experience serving as a Project Engineer or Project Manager.
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusting and effective working relationships.
• Working knowledge of configuration management principles and practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S.

Nice-to-haves

• M.S. or PhD degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 8+ years of relevant aerospace experience.
• Familiarity with JIRA and Agile project management.
• Experience with tools for documentation and tracking of work.
• Experience leading a small technical team.
• Experience with Primavera P6 or other GANTT-style project management tools.
• Experience in Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
• Vendor technical management experience.
• Experience solving a variety of thermal problems.
• Familiarity with Thermal Desktop and Sinda/Fluint.
