About the position
The position involves providing high-quality patient care in the field of polysomnography at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital. The role requires performing assessments, analyzing information, educating patients, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The technologist will work collaboratively with healthcare providers to deliver effective diagnostic studies and maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Gather relevant information from medical records, family, and other healthcare providers.
- Perform ongoing physiological and psychological assessments of patients.
- Select appropriate procedures using cost-effective plans after reviewing data and patient conditions.
- Provide diagnostic testing using professional judgment and department standards.
- Calibrate and maintain all equipment necessary for recording and treating sleep disorders.
- Educate patients on the use of CPAP and explain side effects and contraindications.
- Document diagnostic, treatment, and patient data accurately and timely.
- Ensure services are performed in a safe environment and report equipment problems.
- Practice open communication with staff, patients, and other healthcare providers.
- Participate in quality assurance activities and document results.
Requirements
- Two or more years of clinical experience in polysomnography with RPSGT or RRT-SDS certification.
- Successful completion of an accepted sleep technology training program or equivalent experience.
- Ability to work the night shift (7pm-7am).
- Strong computer manipulation, verbal and written communication skills, and mechanical aptitude.
Nice-to-haves
- Three or more years of clinical experience in polysomnography with RPSGT or RRT-SDS certification.
