About the position

We are seeking a Board Eligible/Board Certified (BE/BC) sleep-trained pulmonologist physician to join a well-established group of 9 physicians in a growing inpatient and outpatient practice located in Sioux Falls, SD. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art facility that includes an 8-bed Sleep Diagnostic Center and an active home sleep apnea testing program. The clinic is conveniently located adjacent to the hospital, providing seamless access to patient care. The role involves a balanced mix of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine, allowing for a comprehensive approach to patient health. The practice is supported by a robust infrastructure, including a 28-bed ICU and a 16-bed Pulmonary Acute Care Unit, as well as a hybrid Neuro ICU/Neuro Acute Unit staffed by dedicated Neuro Critical Care Boarded Intensivists. The hospital also features a state-of-the-art Imaging Center equipped with X-Ray, CT, MRI, and PET/CT technology. In terms of work-life balance, the position offers 6 weeks of vacation and 5 administrative days following each 7-day ICU rotation. The physician will be part of a call rotation, with one physician taking home call on weeknights and weekend coverage provided by one physician on Pulmonary Service and another on Intensivist service. Additionally, there are opportunities for faculty involvement in the Internal Medicine Department of the University of South Dakota, as well as outreach opportunities to extend care to the community. Responsibilities

  • Provide pulmonary inpatient service
  • Participate in the call rotation for weeknights and weekends
  • Conduct sleep studies and manage sleep-related disorders
  • Engage in outreach opportunities to extend care to the community
  • Participate in the weekly Lung Tumor Board and monthly Interstitial Lung Disease multi-disciplinary conference
  • Conduct cardiopulmonary exercise testing and manage lung cancer screening programs
  • Collaborate with hospitalists and eICU coverage in the evenings
  • Contribute to the active EBUS program and other pulmonary procedures
  • Engage in faculty opportunities within the Internal Medicine Department of the University of South Dakota

Requirements

  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pulmonary Medicine
  • Sleep Medicine training and experience
  • Ability to perform critical care procedures
