About the position

The AWS SLG-Health Solutions Architect role focuses on designing innovative, cloud-based solutions tailored to the unique IT challenges faced by US State and Local Government healthcare organizations. This position involves collaborating with hospital leadership and IT teams to create scalable and secure architectures that enhance patient care and improve operational efficiency. The architect will lead technical engagements, define implementation strategies, and contribute to the development of healthcare-focused resources, all while leveraging AWS capabilities to meet evolving healthcare needs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze unique IT requirements, challenges, and objectives of US SLG healthcare organizations, particularly in areas such as EHR management, patient data security, telemedicine, healthcare integration and interoperability.
  • Design and architect innovative, highly available, and secure AWS solutions that address specific needs of US SLG healthcare organizations, including EHR systems, data management, disaster recovery, and more.
  • Collaborate with hospital IT teams, clinicians, and other stakeholders to ensure the proposed solutions align with their workflows and existing infrastructure.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams during the implementation and ongoing support of the AWS-based solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with latest AWS services and best practices to optimize and enhance solutions for US SLG healthcare organizations.
  • Assist with pre-sales activities, such as solution demonstrations and RFP responses, to help secure new business opportunities in the healthcare sector.
  • Contribute to development of healthcare-focused reference architectures and educational resources to benefit the broader AWS and healthcare communities.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience.
  • 5+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience.
  • 8+ years experience working in healthcare institutions in roles such as chief technology officer, chief information security officer, enterprise architect, director of clinical systems/IT operations, and other senior technologist roles.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in complex State and Local Government healthcare organizations.
  • Experience designing and architecting solutions for hospital IT systems including: hospital administration, revenue cycle, quality of care, population health, interoperability.
  • Breadth and depth of knowledge about clinical and research systems widely used, healthcare interoperability standards, medical coding (ICD/RxNorm/SNOMED).
