About the position

The Slug Support Case Manager for Graduate Students at UC Santa Cruz plays a crucial role in providing support and advocacy for graduate and international students facing various challenges. This position serves as a central point of contact for students in distress, coordinating responses and resources to ensure their well-being and success. The Case Manager works closely with multiple campus departments to facilitate early intervention and support services, while also engaging in outreach and education efforts to promote mental health and resource awareness among the graduate student community.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to graduate and international students in distress, assessing their needs and coordinating appropriate responses.
• Manage cases involving graduate and international students of concern, gathering information and mobilizing resources as needed.
• Consult with campus partners to connect students with necessary services, including counseling and academic support.
• Develop and deliver training and informational sessions for staff and students regarding available support resources.
• Foster relationships with key campus partners to enhance support for graduate students and develop best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
• Demonstrated experience in crisis management, crisis intervention, and case management with college students.
• Broad knowledge of health care, mental health care, and crisis management services.
• Ability to coordinate campus and community services for students and advocate on their behalf.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact sensitively with diverse populations.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Public Health, or related field.
• Direct experience working with graduate students and international students in a health or mental health setting.
