About the position

The Small Commercial Senior Sales Representative is responsible for developing profitable business relationships with existing and prospective Independent Agencies. This role focuses on executing an effective Agency Management sales plan to achieve maximum production and profit goals within the assigned territory. The representative will leverage digital capabilities and automation solutions to enhance the customer experience and streamline processes, ultimately driving growth and retention in small commercial insurance products.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct personal meetings and telephone contact with agents to meet or exceed sales objectives in growth and renewal retention.
  • Manage the assigned territory by evaluating competitor products, rates, and activities, providing recommendations accordingly.
  • Maintain current knowledge of underwriting territory and the nature of agents' business.
  • Handle sales administration responsibilities, including timely reporting and expense management.
  • Create demand and enable agents to maximize the flow of desirable business to meet Hartford's financial goals.
  • Follow a disciplined sales process and ensure consistent execution of Sales Excellence principles.
  • Understand the assigned territory thoroughly, including the right number and mix of agents to meet financial objectives.
  • Possess deep knowledge of industry practices, market conditions, and competitor information to maximize business development.
  • Align Hartford strategies and support tools to increase market share.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with agents to meet financial objectives for the territory.
  • Provide tools and information to agents that differentiate Hartford's value proposition from competitors.
  • Manage flow to ensure adequate business mix to meet growth and profit objectives.
  • Create call plans to prioritize agency contact and activity for sustainable business flow.
  • Develop actionable Agency Sales Plans that align with Hartford's financial objectives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of P&C Small Commercial sales and marketing experience.
  • Proven outstanding sales performance and a strong desire to win.
  • Experience with agency training and development.
  • Technologically savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft tools such as SalesForce, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional sales and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to motivate people and manage time effectively.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel within the assigned territory.

Nice-to-haves

  • Underwriting knowledge is beneficial.
  • Experience in a similar sales role within the insurance industry.
