About the position

The Small Format Team Leader at Target is responsible for ensuring an exceptional guest experience in the store's smallest format locations. This role involves overseeing daily operations, managing team members, and executing sales strategies to meet business goals. The Team Leader will focus on guest service, inventory management, and operational efficiency while fostering a positive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Understand sales goals and plan daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience and model expectations for team members.
  • Ensure product is in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor.
  • Execute inbound, outbound, replenishment, inventory accuracy, presentation, pricing, and promotional signing processes for assigned departments.
  • Help create a scheduling plan based on monthly and weekly business workload and guest traffic.
  • Lead team members in the backroom and sales floor areas, reviewing reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve them.
  • Enable efficient delivery to guests by leading pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work as applicable.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
  • Participate in team onboarding and learning, closing knowledge and skill gaps through training and experiences.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations for team members and hold them accountable.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and modeling inclusive behaviors.
  • Lead a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance, holding the team accountable to work safely.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier, order pick up, and Drive Up, maintaining compliance with relevant laws.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Learn and adapt to current technology needs.
  • Work independently and as part of a team.
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment.
