About the position

The Staff Systems Integration Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that SPAN's products meet desired specifications and that integrations satisfy the needs of both internal and external stakeholders. This role is critical as SPAN expands its product offerings and third-party integrations, requiring effective management of design, implementation, and testing complexities. The engineer will work within the Systems Integration & Test Team, focusing on the verification and validation of the entire system and key testing infrastructure, contributing to the successful integration of SPAN's expanding product line.

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with product, firmware, and software teams to design integration plans, review requirements, write test plans, design test rigs, and automate testing.
  • Take point on lab testing to verify system functionality, conduct stress tests, and characterize the integrated system.
  • Reproduce and root-cause issues, collaborating with other teams to develop and test fixes.
  • Adapt to various roles and responsibilities as needed in a startup environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with line voltage or high voltage DC (400-600 VDC) systems such as ESS, Solar, or Level 3+ EVSE charging.
  • Strong understanding of electromagnetism, power electronics, and electrical engineering fundamentals; ability to read PCBA schematics.
  • Experience with command line interface (CLI) tools and general Linux comfort.
  • Familiarity with various communications protocols (REST, CAN, Modbus, etc.).
  • Extensive experience using oscilloscopes and other electrical instrumentation (logic analyzer, power analyzer, etc.).
  • Solid hands-on electrical skills including wiring and soldering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with remote troubleshooting/diagnostics.
  • Hands-on experience with energy storage, inverter, EVSE, or similar hardware products.
  • Programming experience in Python, Javascript, or other scripting languages.
  • Numerical programming experience (PANDAS, R, MATLAB).
  • Comfort working with embedded systems and reading source code.
  • Experience with residential electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools.
