About the position

The Junior FP&A Analyst role at PayPal is designed to support the Small and Medium Business (SMB) Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This position is crucial for delivering accurate financial analysis, reporting, and insights that drive strategic decision-making within the organization. The analyst will work closely with the Director of SMB FP&A and collaborate with various teams to support the rapidly growing SMB segment, which serves approximately 5 million Monthly Active Accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, automate, and maintain regular financial reports in Excel and PowerPoint to inform commercial and product leaders of business performance.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports and analyses to support dynamic business needs and stakeholder requests.
  • Work closely with teams across commercial, product, sales, marketing, risk management, analytics, pricing, and other finance functions to gather and share relevant data.
  • Facilitate alignment and information flow between departments to ensure cohesive strategic execution.
  • Provide financial insights to assist stakeholders in optimal decision-making processes.
  • Translate strategic business decisions into financial implications, ensuring alignment with budgetary and forecasted expectations.
  • Create and refine financial models and business cases to evaluate new projects, partnerships, and initiatives.
  • Conduct back-of-the-envelope math, scenario analyses, or complex financial models that support new business opportunities.
  • Assist SMB FP&A team members in managing portions of the P&L, providing coverage during peak times and handling ad-hoc requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in FP&A, Strategic Finance, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Venture Capital, or related fields.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • SQL experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with FP&A tools such as Oracle, SAP, Anaplan, or similar platforms is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to build and interpret complex financial models in Excel.
  • Self-directed, with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
