About the position

WHC Energy Services is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in High Voltage (HV) Electrical Engineering to join their Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) and Strategic Projects team. This role involves overseeing third-party design firms, ensuring compliance with client requirements and industry standards, and mentoring field engineering teams to support WHC's growth in the high voltage sector.

Responsibilities

• Oversee third-party design firms during detailed design processes.
• Ensure designs meet and exceed client requirements and industry standards.
• Mentor field engineering and construction teams.
• Guide teams through all project phases, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
• Conduct site investigations and client meetings as needed.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and grid standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a valid Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in high voltage substation and transmission design.
• Strong proficiency in developing engineering processes and guiding third-party designs.
• Technical proficiency in industry-standard software for high voltage systems (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, SEL).
• Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with interconnection requirements in ERCOT and Southeastern utilities.
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance standards (e.g., FERC, NERC).
