About the position

The Snowflake Database Administrator will be responsible for managing and optimizing Snowflake environments, ensuring efficient query execution and secure access. This role requires a strong understanding of Snowflake architecture, hands-on experience with Snowflake objects, and proficiency in implementing security features. The position is contract-based and offers a hybrid work environment in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimize Snowflake environments for efficient query execution.
  • Implement and manage Snowflake RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) for secure access.
  • Integrate Snowflake SSO (Single Sign-On) and SCIM for identity management.
  • Automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages like Python or Shell scripting.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Snowflake environments, including usage tracking and query profiling.
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines for managing Snowflake code deployments.
  • Work with data integration tools like Informatica and ADF for ETL/ELT processes.
  • Write technical documentation and create diagrams using tools like Visio and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to prioritize and complete tasks on time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake objects such as Databases, Procedures, Tasks, and Streams.
  • Proven experience in managing Snowflake Warehouses and optimizing performance.
  • Proficiency in Snowflake RBAC and implementing roles and privileges.
  • Experience with integrating Snowflake SSO and SCIM for secure access.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control for Snowflake code deployments.
  • Ability to automate tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages.
  • Expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments.
  • Strong understanding of Snowflake's security features including data masking and encryption.
  • Technical writing and diagramming skills.
