About the position

The Snowflake Database Administrator (DBA) at ASSYST will support client projects in Austin, Texas, focusing on the implementation and management of a data integration hub. This hybrid role involves both remote and onsite work, with a strong emphasis on utilizing Snowflake architecture and tools to optimize data processes and ensure secure access management.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and configuration of the infrastructure for the data integration hub
  • Design, development, and implementation (DD&I) of the data integration hub using agile methodology
  • Validation of performance metric requirements
  • Creation of Epics/User Stories/Tasks
  • Automation of data acquisition from various data sources
  • Development of complex SQL scripts
  • Testing integration, load, and stress
  • Deployment/publication internally and externally
  • Operations support and enhancement of the data integration hub
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments, including usage tracking and query profiling
  • Provide periodic and ad-hoc status reports including KPIs as requested by client delivery lead
  • Perform periodic performance tuning of applications and capacity planning
  • Participate in coding of stored procedures and triggers using SQL as needed for operations
  • Provide infrastructure support for Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Dremio, etc.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience with Snowflake
  • Strong overall understanding of Snowflake architecture and components
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake objects (Databases, Procedures, Tasks, and Streams)
  • Expertise in using Snowflake's cloning capabilities for databases and schemas
  • Proven experience in managing Snowflake Warehouses and optimizing performance
  • Proficiency in Snowflake RBAC (Role-Based Access Control)
  • Experience with integrating Snowflake SSO (Single Sign-On) and SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control for Snowflake code deployments
  • Experience with data integration tools like Informatica and ADF for ETL/ELT processes
  • Ability to automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages (Python or Shell scripting)
  • Expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments (usage tracking, query profiling)
  • Strong understanding of Snowflake's security features (data masking, encryption, network policies)
  • Technical writing and diagramming skills (proficiency in modeling tools and Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Experience on an agile sprint team
  • Experience with JIRA software
  • Ability to work with multiple teams, prioritize, and complete tasks on time with high quality

  • Understanding of security principles related to healthcare data gained over 4 years
  • 4 years of experience in performance metrics data visualization and business intelligence environments

  • Prior experience with a Health and Human Services (HHS) agency for 2 years
  • Prior experience working with Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or Protected Health Information (PHI) data for 2 years
  • Prior experience working with HL7 data for 2 years
  • Prior experience with Azure for 2 years
