About the position

The Snowflake Database Administrator role is a long-term contract position that requires a strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and hands-on experience with its various components. The position is hybrid, requiring one day a week onsite in Austin, TX, and involves managing Snowflake environments, optimizing performance, and ensuring secure access through various integrations. The role also includes automating administrative tasks and collaborating with multiple teams to deliver high-quality work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Snowflake objects such as Databases, Procedures, Tasks, and Streams.
  • Optimize performance of Snowflake Warehouses for efficient query execution.
  • Implement and manage Snowflake RBAC (Role-Based Access Control).
  • Integrate Snowflake SSO (Single Sign-On) and SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management).
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines and version control for Snowflake code deployments.
  • Work with data integration tools like Informatica and ADF for ETL/ELT processes.
  • Automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages like Python or Shell scripting.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Snowflake environments, including usage tracking and query profiling.
  • Ensure security features such as data masking, encryption, and network policies are implemented.
  • Perform technical writing and diagramming tasks using tools like Visio and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience with Snowflake architecture and its components.
  • 8 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake objects such as Databases, Procedures, Tasks, and Streams.
  • 8 years of expertise in using Snowflake's cloning capabilities for databases and schemas.
  • 8 years of proven experience in managing Snowflake Warehouses and optimizing performance for efficient query execution.
  • 8 years of proficiency in Snowflake RBAC (Role-Based Access Control).
  • 8 years of experience with integrating Snowflake SSO and SCIM for secure access and identity management.
  • 8 years of familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control for managing Snowflake code deployments.
  • 8 years of experience working with data integration tools like Informatica and ADF for seamless ETL/ELT processes.
  • 8 years of ability to automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages like Python or Shell scripting.
  • 8 years of expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments.
  • 8 years of strong understanding of Snowflake's security features such as data masking, encryption, and network policies.
  • 8 years of technical writing and diagramming skills, including proficiency with modeling and mapping tools and the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 8 years of experience on an agile sprint team.
  • 8 years of experience with JIRA software.
  • 8 years of experience working with multiple teams concurrently.

  • 2 years of prior experience working with PII or PHI data.
  • 2 years of prior experience working with HL7 data.
  • 2 years of prior experience with Azure.
