About the position

The Snowflake Database Administrator position is a contract role based in Austin, TX, offering a hybrid work environment. The role requires a strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and involves managing Snowflake objects, optimizing performance, and ensuring secure access through various integrations. The position is expected to last approximately 9 months, with a focus on collaboration within agile teams and effective communication across multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Snowflake objects such as Databases, Procedures, Tasks, and Streams.
  • Optimize performance of Snowflake Warehouses for efficient query execution.
  • Implement and manage Snowflake RBAC (Role-Based Access Control).
  • Integrate Snowflake SSO (Single Sign-On) and SCIM for secure access.
  • Utilize CI/CD pipelines for managing Snowflake code deployments.
  • Automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Snowflake environments, including usage tracking and query profiling.
  • Ensure data security through features like data masking and encryption.
  • Collaborate with multiple teams to prioritize and complete work on time.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and its components.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake objects.
  • Expertise in using Snowflake's cloning capabilities.
  • Proven experience in managing Snowflake Warehouses.
  • Proficiency in Snowflake RBAC implementation.
  • Experience with integrating Snowflake SSO and SCIM.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control.
  • Experience with data integration tools like Informatica and ADF.
  • Ability to automate tasks using SQL and scripting languages.
  • Expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments.
  • Strong understanding of Snowflake's security features.
  • Technical writing and diagramming skills.
  • Experience on an agile sprint team.
  • Experience with JIRA software.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
