About the position

The Snowflake Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and operational support of a data integration hub for the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). This role requires a strong understanding of Snowflake architecture and hands-on experience with various Snowflake components, as well as the ability to work within an agile development team to ensure efficient data integration and management.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and configure the infrastructure for the data integration hub.
  • Design, develop, and implement the data integration hub using agile methodology.
  • Validate performance metric requirements and create Epics/User Stories/Tasks.
  • Automate data acquisition from various data sources.
  • Develop complex SQL scripts and test integration, load, and stress.
  • Deploy and publish the data integration hub internally and externally.
  • Provide operations support and enhancement for the data integration hub.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Snowflake environments, including usage tracking and query profiling.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience with a strong overall understanding of Snowflake architecture and its components.
  • 8 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake objects such as Databases, Procedures, Tasks, and Streams.
  • 8 years of expertise in using Snowflake's cloning capabilities for databases and schemas.
  • 8 years of proven experience in managing Snowflake Warehouses and optimizing performance for efficient query execution.
  • 8 years of proficiency in Snowflake RBAC (Role-Based Access Control), including implementation of roles and privileges.
  • 8 years of experience with integrating Snowflake SSO (Single Sign-On) and SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management).
  • 8 years of familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control for managing Snowflake code deployments.
  • 8 years of experience working with data integration tools like Informatica and ADF for seamless ETL/ELT processes.
  • 8 years of ability to automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages like Python or Shell scripting.
  • 8 years of expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments, including usage tracking and query profiling.
  • 8 years of strong understanding of Snowflake's security features such as data masking, encryption, and network policies.
  • 8 years of technical writing and diagramming skills, including proficiency with modeling and mapping tools (e.g., Visio, Erwin) and the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Project).
  • 8 years of experience on an agile sprint team.
  • 8 years of experience with JIRA software.
  • 8 years of experience working with multiple teams concurrently, prioritizing and completing work on time with high quality.

  • 6 years of proven ability to write well-designed, testable, efficient code using best software development practices.
  • 4 years of understanding of security principles and their application to healthcare data.
  • 4 years of experience with state-of-the-art software components for performance metrics data visualization or business intelligence environments.

  • 4 years of Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business or equivalent experience.
