Snowflake Engineer

About the position

Allied Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Snowflake Engineer to join their technical services team. This role involves designing and optimizing data structures within the Snowflake platform to meet business requirements, ensuring efficient data processing and secure data management. The Snowflake Engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance the Snowflake environment and automate administrative tasks, contributing to the overall success of data operations.

Responsibilities

• Design overall data structure utilizing Snowflake's features to meet business requirements.
• Create a blueprint for data storage, processing, and access within the Snowflake platform.
• Optimize data pipelines and workflows for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
• Design ETL or ELT processes and optimize queries and data storage strategies.
• Integrate with cloud services, third-party tools, and on-premises data systems.
• Implement strategies to control access to sensitive data, applying encryption and role-based access control.
• Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, and business analysts to understand requirements.
• Monitor performance of the Snowflake environment and identify bottlenecks.
• Automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages.
• Perform data loading methods and manage Snowflake cloning capabilities.
• Configure and manage Snowflake Virtual Warehouses, including scaling and auto-suspend settings.
• Implement roles and privileges for secure access using Snowflake RBAC.
• Integrate Snowflake SSO and SCIM for secure access and identity management.
• Configure alerts and monitor data pipeline failures and resource spikes.

Requirements

• 8 years of experience with data modeling, integration, warehousing, governance, and security.
• 8 years of experience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL in HA deployments.
• 8 years of proficiency in Snowflake architecture and its components.
• 8 years of hands-on experience with Snowflake objects such as Databases, Procedures, Tasks, and Streams.
• 8 years of expertise in using Snowflake's cloning capabilities for databases and schemas.
• 8 years of proven experience in managing Snowflake Warehouses and optimizing performance.
• 8 years of proficiency in Snowflake RBAC, including implementation of roles and privileges.
• 8 years of experience with integrating Snowflake SSO and SCIM for secure access.
• 8 years of experience working with data integration tools like Informatica and ADF.
• 8 years of ability to automate administrative tasks using Snowflake SQL and scripting languages.
• 8 years of expertise in monitoring and troubleshooting Snowflake environments.
• 8 years of strong understanding of Snowflake's security features.
• 8 years of technical writing and diagramming skills, including proficiency with modeling tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
• 8 years of experience on an agile sprint team.
• 8 years of experience with JIRA software.
• 8 years of experience working with multiple teams concurrently.
• 8 years of knowledge of Informatica 10.5.
• 8 years of experience developing reports in Cognos Analytics 11.1.

Nice-to-haves

• 5 years of familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control for managing Snowflake code deployments.
• 5 years of prior experience in the Healthcare Industry.
• 5 years of prior experience with an HHS agency.
• 5 years of prior experience working with PII or PHI data.

• 4 years of Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or Business or equivalent experience.
