About the position

The Expert SQL, Snowflake Tableau School Business Data Developer will provide analysis and leadership on data analysis projects across the client focusing on School Business Data. Currently, the enterprise operates within a complex, multi-platform data environment that includes legacy Mainframe systems, Amazon AWS/Snowflake, and Microsoft Azure, alongside data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI. The technologies in use encompass a variety of database platforms including Oracle, DB2, MySQL, and SQL Server, as well as desktop applications like MS Access and MS Excel. The primary goal of this role is to establish an enterprise data model that standardizes shared data entities and attributes, while also aiming to standardize database management systems and tools. The School Business and HR/other data will be hosted in Snowflake running in AWS, generally utilizing SQL Server. In this role, you will provide insights to other data analysts, data architects, and application developers, ensuring the creation of an enterprise data reporting model that aligns with the client's school business and technical requirements. You will also be responsible for providing subject matter expertise and training to other SQL/Snowflake and Tableau developers and analysts, fostering a collaborative environment that enhances data-driven decision-making across the organization. Your contributions will be pivotal in driving the success of data analysis projects and ensuring that the data infrastructure supports the strategic goals of the client.

Responsibilities

• Provide analysis and leadership on data analysis projects focusing on School Business Data.
• Establish an enterprise data model to standardize shared data entities and attributes.
• Standardize database management systems and tools across the organization.
• Provide insights to data analysts, data architects, and application developers for creating an enterprise data reporting model.
• Offer subject matter expertise and training to SQL/Snowflake and Tableau developers and analysts.
• Design and deliver data mapping specifications for large reporting platforms.
• Write and maintain business rules using SQL logic.
• Demonstrate technical ability in learning new technologies and adapting to changes in the technical environment.

Requirements

• Experience with SQL databases and related ETL and advanced data validations in Snowflake and Azure.
• Proven experience in data visualization using Tableau and Power BI.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a technology-related field with a focus on programming, data structure, and data visualization.
• Understanding of different database platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, and MS Access.
• Understanding of Data Warehousing (AWS/Snowflake and Azure) and data mining for reporting and analysis.
• Experience designing and delivering data mapping specifications for large reporting platforms.
• Demonstrated experience in writing ad-hoc SQL statements.
• Proven experience with ERD/Data Modelling tools (Toad or others).
• Experience executing projects in an Agile/Hybrid environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Viya and other data reporting tools.
• Strong interest in playing a technical data steward role across business and technology partners.
