About the position

The Distributed Generation (DG) Senior Project Coordinator at National Grid is responsible for managing customer relationships and overseeing complex distributed generation projects throughout the interconnection process. This role requires strong technical and project management skills to ensure projects are completed cost-effectively and within regulatory timelines while maintaining high customer satisfaction. The coordinator will act as the primary point of contact for customers, guiding them through technical, regulatory, and legislative obligations, and will also provide outreach and education on DG initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage DG projects with customers, external vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely delivery of utility services and project completion.
  • Maintain work management systems and update procedures to support design solutions for Distributed Generation programs.
  • Build and communicate schedules, maintain milestones, and perform DG process-related tasks and necessary documentation.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Distribution and Transmission Engineering, CEI Account Development, Legal, Regulatory, and Jurisdictional teams.
  • Challenge existing policies and procedures to enhance customer service and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinate engineering and operations resources to ensure timely delivery of DG projects per tariff requirements.
  • Communicate project expectations and provide status updates to interconnecting customers.
  • Provide technical guidance, support, and coaching to others regarding Distributed Generation programs and services.
  • Analyze developments in Distributed Generation and Renewable Energy technologies to identify impacts on business strategies.
  • Manage financial aspects of project requirements and negotiate interconnection-related agreements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in project management, engineering, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of work experience in project management or related field.
  • Familiarity with power system components, engineering concepts, and interconnections.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience with renewable energies and the utility industry.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling principles and tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software products.
  • Experience with utility electric construction is a plus.
  • PE, DGCP, and/or PMP certification is a plus.

  • Experience with STORMs, Salesforce, and/or Primavera is a plus.
  • Demonstrated superior customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to articulate findings and anticipate challenges in project management.
